Summary

This opportunity is designed for individuals in the Kindergarten through 12th grade range who live in a specific U.S. state and identify as girls—including cisgender girls, transgender girls, gender-nonconforming youth, and those whose lived experiences align with “girlhood.” The intent is to support young people in pursuing unique personal growth experiences — things like arts or cultural classes, leadership training, wilderness/outdoor adventures, sport team participation, technology access or equipment, writing or publication projects, or even small business start-up ideas. The funding helps cover costs such as fees, equipment, travel, or participation expenses in these kinds of activities.

The purpose of the grant is to help recipients recognize their own abilities and strengths, build confidence and a sense of agency, and explore opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. The funding supports projects that build self-esteem, broaden horizons, and help young people feel empowered to pursue their dreams. It values a partnership between the youth and a trusted adult mentor (non-family member) who helps guide them through the experience.

Eligibility is limited to individuals (not nonprofits or businesses) who meet the age/grade and location criteria. The funding is available only in one U.S. state and only to residents of that state. The grants are awarded twice each year, giving candidates two chances annually to apply. Award amounts typically go up to around one thousand U.S. dollars (though slightly lower in earlier years) for each recipient.

This is a recurring program — grant cycles occur regularly on a biannual basis. Recipients receive one-time support for a specific activity or project. It’s an ideal fit for a young person who has a compelling idea for growth, has identified a mentor, and lives in the specified region.
